Under the hand of designer Mayu Imachi, rare vintage kimonos have been elevated to modern fashion.
The base lavishly features a hand-woven fushi tsumugi with a Tang flower pattern. A fukuro obi adorned with floral patterns, grapes, and facing birds is boldly placed at the waist, and its asymmetrical draping creates a unique presence.
Particularly noteworthy is the innovative approach of visually enjoying Japan's advanced textile technology. By intentionally utilizing the reverse side of the obi, the intricate and beautifully layered weft threads are incorporated as part of the design.
It is a sublime, one-of-a-kind piece that combines Japanese tradition with innovative sensibility, serving as the centerpiece of any outfit.
Worn by MATOI staff (160cm tall)
Usually wears S-M size at ZARA, and M size at Uniqlo
The smooth and silky feel is characteristic of high-quality silk material.
The subtle cool sensation felt upon touch gives a sophisticated impression. The relatively fitted silhouette hugged the body's lines, while the natural sheen and drape unique to silk were beautifully accentuated.
When worn, the hem was about 4cm from the floor. Pairing it with heels or voluminous shoes will create a more refined balance.
