High-end, one-of-a-kind pants from MATOI, created by designer Mayu Imachi, who elevates the beauty of vintage kimonos into modern designs.
A luxurious finished komon kimono was deconstructed and re-imagined into a unique piece featuring shibori-dyed geometric patterns and tsujigahana motifs dancing on a golden-brown background.
A fukuro obi with a shimmering hiki-haku rhomboid and crane pattern was placed at the waist, adding an air of elegance. By intentionally showcasing the reverse side of the obi, the beauty, three-dimensionality, and handcrafted texture of "yokoi no watari"—the pinnacle of traditional Japanese weaving techniques—are directly expressed.
This exquisite item exudes an overwhelming presence where tradition and modernity intertwine.
Worn by a MATOI staff member (160cm tall)
Normally wears S-M size at ZARA, and M size at Uniqlo.
The smooth and silky feel is characteristic of high-quality silk material.
The subtle coolness felt upon touch creates a refined impression. With a relatively fitted silhouette that hugs the body, the natural luster and drape characteristic of silk were beautifully accentuated.
When worn, the hem was approximately 4cm above the floor. Pairing it with heels or voluminous shoes will create a more sophisticated balance.
