One-of-a-kind upcycled pants by designer Mayu Imachi, elevating the beauty of vintage kimonos to the modern age.
Centering on carefully selected kimono fabric featuring flowers dancing on a deep indigo background, a luxurious fukuro obi with genuine gold leaf (hiki-haku) is lavishly used for the waistband.
A notable feature is the design that intentionally utilizes the reverse side of the obi. By showcasing the "weft floats," a testament to the meticulous handiwork of artisans, the profound depth of Japanese textile technology is expressed.
An art piece woven from a dignified obi adorned with overlapping mountains, cranes, and auspicious pine, bamboo, and plum motifs, and playful kimono fabric.
This special garment, steeped in tradition, is sure to captivate all eyes.
Worn by a MATOI staff member (160cm tall)
Normally wears S-M size at ZARA, and M size at Uniqlo.
The smooth, silky feel is unique to high-quality silk.
The subtle coolness felt upon touch creates a sophisticated impression. The relatively fitted silhouette hugged the body, while the natural luster and drape characteristic of silk were beautifully highlighted.
When worn, the hem was approximately 4cm from the floor. Pairing it with heels or voluminous shoes will create a more refined balance.
